The scholarship is made possible through generous donations from Pon Satitpunwaycha, MD, FACS, the American College of Surgeons Foundation, and the Hellman Grant through the Association of Women Surgeons Foundation.
This scholarship program seems like a crucial initiative to address the shortage of female surgeons in Sub-Saharan Africa. By providing financial support and encouragement, it aims to increase the representation of women in surgical specialties, ultimately improving access to surgical care in the region.
This initiative not only provides financial support but also serves as a catalyst for encouraging more women to pursue careers in surgery, thereby addressing the gender disparity in the surgical workforce in Sub-Saharan Africa.
