Who can apply?
- Final-year COSECSA FCS Orthopaedic trainees.
- Non-COSECSA orthopaedic surgeons working in a COSECSA-accredited hospital who want to continue training and obtain the final-year FCS qualification.
- Fifth year MMed trainees in a COSECSA-accredited hospital planning to take the COSECSA Fellowship (FCS Ortho) examination in 2024.
What does this scholarship cover?
- The scholarship covers enrolment and fellowship (FCS) examination fees only.
Note: Fees already paid to COSECSA by trainees cannot be reclaimed.
What are the Application Procedures?
- Submit a personal statement indicating expected results or outcomes, and an up-to-date CV.
- Submit a letter of support from the surgical training Programme Director of the COSECSA-accredited hospital where you are training.
- Submit an acceptance letter from a COSECSA-accredited training facility.
- Secure a training post, and, if necessary, obtain a work permit if training abroad.
- Submit your application by filling in the FORM before the deadline indicated.

There are 15 scholarships available, each offering up to $1,400.
