COSECSA invites young surgeons in its Training Programme to apply for the prestigious Lindsay Stewart Prize. This prize is awarded annually to recognize outstanding scientific papers presented at the COSECSA-ASEA Scientific Conference.
Prize Details:
The prize offers £1,000 sterling, which may be awarded to one or more recipients to cover travel expenses, accommodation, and conference registration fees. The award will include a COSECSA/RCSEd Certificate and will be announced at the closing ceremony of the AGM.
Eligibility Criteria:
To qualify for the Lindsay Stewart Prize, applicants must meet the following conditions:
- The paper’s content must be original, with the presenter as the 1st author.
- University dissertation projects may be acceptable.
- The Scholarship Board will select the winner(s).
- The paper must be accepted for presentation by the conference’s scientific committee and submitted to the East and Central African Journal of Surgery (ECAJS) for publication.
- The author must present the paper in person at the conference.

- Submit your Abstract for the prize to rpo.coordinator@cosecsa.org (cc: education_asst@cosecsa.org)
- Provide proof of submission to the East and Central African Journal of Surgery (ECAJS)
- Include a covering letter from the Head of Department
- Submit your Abstract for the COSECSA Annual Scientific Conference committee at: https://www.cosecsa.org/abstract-submission/
Submission Deadline: 15th October 2024
